Eggs weren’t the only thing hunted on Easter: The bass hunt is on at the Delta

Anglers hit the water this holiday weekend for tournament events, pre fish or just plain old fun fishing and many were rewarded with some nice catches. Reporting on his Easter weekend pre fish, tournament angler Steve Adams gave an update on his time on the California Delta this weekend.
Adams and his partner launched under a partly cloudy sky about 9:30 in the morning to test the waters for an upcoming tournament. Turning their sights towards the East Delta and focusing on small, flooded islands at high tide, Adams said, “We got a bunch of fish at our first couple of spots but there was nothing really consistent and they weren’t the size we were hoping to find.”
By 2:00 PM the sun had made an appearance and there was a tide change. At this point, Adams was targeting heavy cover. The move to the middle Delta was a good one for the anglers and they hooked into a better quality of bass.
Adams catch of the day was this 7 lb’r that bit on a D&M Punch Craw in the color “Delta Special”. Describing the area as “clean with a slight green-color to the water”, Adams reported, “This one came shallow from about 3-feet near a lay down.”
They wrapped up their day by 5:00 pm but the bite apparently dwindled after the seven was landed as Adams shared, “We didn’t get any other nice fish the remainder of the day.”
